Pledge Weak
Boy, have I seriously set myself up for utter failure and disappointment. October seems to be the month that I have set some pretty lofty goals for myself. Being that I tend to take things pretty hard, I am going to concentrate on following through on these goals. Typically, these would be goals set January 1st as some sort of New Year's resolution. Either I am really late in getting to this, or, as I like to think, extremely early.
First, and foremost, is the return of “Randy”. Randy is the beard that I started to grow last winter. He started to come in quite nicely when I decided to trim him a little. Well...I forgot to set the gate correctly on my trimmer and, in effect, gave myself a reverse mohawk on the facial region. I also had plans of a video/pictorial diary where I would take a picture of myself everyday to track Randy's progress. Sadly, that went away very quickly save for a few pictures early on in the project. So, Randy is coming back ala Lazarus (I do have a picture of “him” with a beginning and an end).
Secondly, I have the pledge to myself that I am going to stay on top of my blog and post something once a week. It should not be that difficult since I do have a lot to say (being the silent partner in a 19+ year relationship will do that to a person). I am going to force myself to crank stuff out, regardless. Some of it will be good, some of it completely shit, but, every once in awhile there will be a little gem, a nugget of pure bliss. That's what I am shooting for.
The next part of this reformation of Jeff is the whole working out thing. Now that it is Octobrrrrrrrr, I will need to find something to do (beside the obvious) to keep myself warm. Also, in the next few months I will hit the dreaded 40th year of existence, and, I haven't really been good to this body (it has been good to me so I will return the favor).
Reading, reading, reading, seriously. I have to do more of this shit. I do love it. But, I find myself being a little bit lazy and finding a movie that I end up watching. It takes so much less energy and thought and brain activity and falling asleep to a movie doesn't leave you wondering where you left off. Plus, reading one fucking page twelve times is very aggravating. Yuck! So, my pledge to read two books a month doesn't seem too far fetched (I am going to finish the two that I currently have been reading – they don't count).
There! Goals on paper. Constant reminder. No renegotiating. Done. Beard, working out, blogging and reading! Shouldn't be that hard, should it? Then again, you really don't know me.
Until we meet again, keep one foot in the gutter and one fist in the gold. Ciao!
